- Function
- combination of amoxicillin and mucomycin. Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic, broad-spectrum penicillin that is bactericidal against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
- Product Description
- Colistin Sulfate and Amoxicillin Trihydrate Water-Soluble Powder Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic broad-spectrum penicillin, which exerts bactericidal effect by inhibiting cell wall synthesis, and is mainly excreted through urine, and partly through bile. Mucomycin is a polymyxin antibiotic that is bactericidal against gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli, Haemophilus and Salmonella. Due to minimal oral absorption of mucomycin, it is only indicated for gastrointestinal infections.
- Indications
- For the treatment of gastrointestinal, respiratory and urinary tract infections in calves, goats, poultry, sheep and swine caused by microorganisms susceptible to amoxicillin and mucomycin. Examples include Campylobacter, Clostridium, Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Rhodococcus suis, Haemophilus, Pasteurella, Salmonella, penicillinase-negative staphylococci and streptococci.
- Contraindications
- 1. Hypersensitivity to amoxicillin or mucomycin.
- 2. Animals with severely impaired renal function.
- 3. Concomitant use with tetracyclines, chloramphenicol, macrolides, and lincosamides.
- 4. Administration to animals with active microbial digestion.
- Side effects
- allergic reactions, renal dysfunction, neurotoxicity and neuromuscular blockade.
- Dosage
- Oral administration: calves, goats and sheep: 5 g per 100 kg body weight twice daily for 3 to 5 days. Poultry and pigs: 1 kg per 1000 to 2000 liters of drinking water for 3 to 5 days. NOTE: Apply only to unruminated calves, lambs and young stock. Please note: Dissolve 1 kg in 20 liters of water at 40°C before adding to drinking water.
